Laura Calhoun joined the firm in June of 2007. She has provided clients with legal representation in the area of civil litigation and employment law since 1991. Her experience includes litigation of discrimination/retaliation/sexual harassment claims as well as other employment law, wage and contract claims. She also handles other civil litigation claims, including DTPA claims, debt collection claims and breach of contract claims. She represents clients at the administrative, pre-trial, trial and appellate levels. Ms. Calhoun has also briefed a variety of employment law issues on appeal, including a case involving the Americans With Disabilities Act, which was heard by the United States Supreme Court in 1999.

In addition to litigation, Ms. Calhoun also provides counsel to employers on compliance with state and federal employment laws when hiring, managing, disciplining and terminating employees. Ms. Calhoun drafts employer policy manuals and conducts management and staff training seminars on those policies. She also drafts and reviews employment contracts and advises on covenants not to compete and other issues of business confidentiality, trade secrets and tortious interference. She further assists businesses with entity formation and conversion, including preparation of state filings and compliance with other business/corporate formalities.

Ms. Calhoun is also trained as a mediator and assists litigants in resolving civil actions through the mediation process.

Ms. Calhoun is an active member of the Plano Bar Association and currently serves on the Board as CLE-Director. She lives in Lewisville with her husband and two children.
